This year’s CIEEM Autumn Conference highlighted the remarkable achievements of terrestrial, coastal and freshwater nature restoration projects while providing an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange. It was an opportunity to learn from passionate practitioners across the ecology and environmental management sector, whether working on rewilding projects, managing protected sites, enhancing biodiversity on agricultural land or fostering community-led restoration initiatives.
The conference explored cutting-edge topics in nature restoration, from ecosystem rewilding and invasive species management to stakeholder engagement and identifying success markers in restoration projects. Presenters also emphasised critical considerations for the future, such as climate change impacts and the role of non-native species in ecosystems.
Workshops and presentations tackled pressing questions, showcased successful techniques and inspired fresh ideas to advance restoration efforts. Jim, Robin, and Meg attended workshops on biodiversity net gain, pond restoration and nutrient neutrality, gaining insights to apply in their own work.
The CIEEM Autumn Conference underscored the importance of collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to empowering “generation restoration”. We’re proud to have been part of this vital conversation about shaping the future of our natural world.
