Species and Habitat Surveys

In order to find out what the ecological constraints are on a potential development site a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal is required. Whether you are are developing a site for leisure or housing, carrying out engineering works or diversifying a farm with renewable energy the same initial approach is required. What habitat and species are present, what neighbouring sites may affect your works, what protections or designations do you have to take into consideration?

Species-specific Surveys

Once we have received a location plan and any maps including site hazards or limitations we can start to scope the work that may be required. A desk study to review any existing biological records held about your site or its immediate surrounding area will then inform any species specific surveys. To provide an initial baseline of ecological data, the survey area will be walked and an extended Phase 1 habitat survey completed and mapped including notes of specific habitats and any potential for notable or protected species. The report will provide an initial assessment of potential impacts and make any necessary recommendations for further survey work and mitigation measures.
