Agri-Tech Week is designed to highlight the latest developments in agriculture, bring together experts across the agri-tech sector and encourage new collaborations. The event attracts industry leaders, researchers, farmers and entrepreneurs alike, making it one of the most influential weeks in the UK’s agricultural calendar.
One of the main highlights of Agri-Tech Week is the REAP Conference, which will be celebrating its 11th year on 6 November. The conference puts farmers at the heart of the discussion, guiding delegates through the complexities of 21st century agriculture by reshaping challenges to spark fresh ideas and innovative solutions. This year’s theme, The Agri-Tech Balancing Act – Optimising One or Managing Many?, will explore the balance between optimising individual crops and livestock compared to managing larger-scale systems.
In addition to the REAP Conference, Agri-Tech Week features an exciting array of events hosted by Agri-TechE partners across the country. We are particularly looking forward to the Innovation for the 21st Century event hosted by the Essex Plant Innovation Centre (EPIC) at the University of Essex. EPIC, known for its research in controlled-environment agriculture and field-based innovation, will open the doors of its brand new Smart Technology Experimental Plant Suite (STEPS) for an exclusive tour, showcasing a facility dedicated to cutting-edge agricultural research.
Our own Database Developer, Karthik Ashok, will be presenting at their event on behalf of Baker Consultants, sharing insights from our pioneering soil ecoacoustics research. Over the last year and a half, we’ve made significant strides in collecting and analysing soil bioacoustics data, collaborating with scientists from the University of Warwick to deepen our understanding of soil health. This research has involved a broad geographical scope and led to the development of a soil acoustic monitoring system, designed to assess soil health through simply placing a probe in the ground.
We’re looking forward to engaging with industry peers and exploring potential new avenues for collaboration. From enhancing soil health to boosting productivity, Agri-Tech Week is a reminder of the transformative potential of agri-tech for a sustainable future.
If you’re interested in joining us at the Innovation Centre in Colchester on 7 November, reserve your place via the University of Essex here.
