Jed joined Baker Consultants in 2020 as an Assistant Ecologist and has steadily progressed within the company, being promoted to Senior Ecologist in 2024. Over the past five years, he has become a trusted member of our team, known for his technical expertise, methodical approach and dedication to delivering high-quality ecological assessments.
A graduate of Nottingham Trent University with a First Class BSc in Biological Sciences (Ecology and Environmental Management), Jed has built a strong foundation in the field. His work spans a wide range of survey techniques and environmental disciplines, from protected species and habitat assessments to Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) delivery and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
Jed brings a particular specialism in BNG, where he excels in analysing baseline biodiversity data, designing enhancement strategies and ensuring that project outcomes lead to genuine ecological improvements. His skillset also includes the use of GIS for spatial analysis, bioacoustics for ecological monitoring and invertebrate sampling and identification– innovative techniques that align closely with our ethos at Baker Consultants.
Jed also has a keen interest in invertebrates and works closely alongside our Invertebrate Specialists, Dave Goddard and Meg Skinner. Together, they conduct detailed surveys and identification of both terrestrial and aquatic invertebrate species, enhancing our ability to provide thorough ecological insights that support effective conservation and habitat enhancement strategies.
Jed’s full CIEEM membership reflects not only his personal achievements, but also his professional integrity and leadership within the sector. It’s a benchmark of professional competence that acknowledges his contributions to the field of ecology and environmental management.
